Residential Solar Panels
At Stag Solar, we choose N-type monocrystalline panels for their exceptional efficiency and long-term value. These high-performance panels are available in three finishes: all-black, black with silver cell lining, and black with a silver frame. For residential installations, we typically recommend all-black panels for their sleek appearance, helping maintain the aesthetic integrity of your property.
We exclusively install Bloomberg Tier 1 panels—sourced from globally recognised manufacturers with strong financial standing and a commitment to quality and innovation. These panels are backed by a 30-year performance warranty and a 25-year product warranty, aligning with our high standards for reliability and durability.
Our panel range includes trusted brands such as JA Solar, Jinko Solar, Canadian Solar, Q-Cells, REC, and Trina Solar.

How Many Solar Panels Does Your Home Need?
The number of solar panels required for your home depends on several key factors. Property size, number of bedrooms, and occupancy levels all play a role in estimating energy usage. Additional considerations—such as your heating system, use of air conditioning, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and whether you work from home—can also impact the total number of panels needed.
Below is a chart providing estimated panel requirements based on house type, bedroom count, and typical electricity offset, along with indicative installation costs. Please note that these figures are for guidance only and may vary depending on your specific circumstances.
House Type | Bedrooms | Estimated Panels | Annual Electricity Offset | Starting Cost (Excl. Batteries) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Terraced | 2–3 | 6–8 | Up to 2,500 kWh | From £4,500 |
Semi-Detached | 3 | 8–10 | Up to 3,000 kWh | From £5,000 |
Detached | 3 | 10–12 | Up to 3,500 kWh | From £6,000 |
Detached | 4 | 12–14 | Up to 4,000 kWh | From £6,500 |
Detached | 5+ | 15+ | Over 4,000 kWh | From £7,000 |
Is My Home Suitable for Solar Panels?
Thanks to the wide range of modern roof mounting systems available, most homes are suitable for solar PV installations. However, there are a few key factors to consider to ensure your property is a good fit.
In most cases, planning permission is not required for residential solar installations. Exceptions include listed buildings and properties with flat roofs, where permission is typically needed. For flat roofs, panels must be mounted on angled frames to optimise sunlight exposure.
If your roof is heavily shaded or receives limited sunlight throughout the day, solar may be less effective. In such cases, a ground-mounted system—installed in a garden, field, or paddock—can be a practical alternative.
Our team will assess your property and recommend the most effective solution for harnessing solar energy at your home.

Maximise Your Solar Investment with Battery Storage
Pairing your solar PV system with a battery storage solution is a smart way to increase your home’s energy independence and efficiency. By storing the excess energy your panels generate, you gain greater control over your usage—reducing reliance on the grid and maximising cost savings.
Battery storage ensures you have access to clean, affordable energy even during the evenings or on days with limited sunlight. This is especially valuable for homeowners whose energy demand peaks in the afternoon and evening hours.
Enjoy peace of mind knowing your home is powered by sustainable energy, whenever you need it.
Charge Your EV at Home with Solar Power
As electric vehicle (EV) technology continues to advance—especially in terms of battery capacity—more drivers are making the switch to cleaner, more sustainable transport. By installing an EV charging point at home and pairing it with your solar PV system, you can power your vehicle using surplus solar energy.
This not only helps reduce your carbon footprint but also makes driving significantly more cost-effective, allowing you to enjoy free, emissions-free motoring straight from your own home.

Installation Timeline
Most domestic solar panel installations by Stag Solar are completed in just one day, meaning you can start generating clean energy from your home almost immediately.
Your installation team will typically consist of up to four qualified technicians, including a dedicated site manager who will serve as your main point of contact throughout the process.
The team will include skilled roofers to fit your solar PV panels and experienced electricians to carry out the internal electrical work, such as installing and configuring your inverter for optimal performance.
Warranty & Maintenance
At Stag Solar, we’re committed to supporting you long after your installation is complete.
Our installation services come with a standard two-year workmanship warranty, while solar panels and inverters are covered by manufacturer warranties, typically ranging from 25 to 30 years, depending on the brand and model.
Once your system is up and running, it requires minimal maintenance. However, we offer ongoing support to ensure peak performance. Approximately 11 months after installation, a member of our team will get in touch to check in on your system’s performance and offer a complimentary service appointment.
During this visit, we’ll conduct a drone inspection of your panels and advise on any cleaning or minor maintenance needed to keep your system operating at its best.
With high-quality components and expert installation, your solar system is built to deliver reliable, long-term performance with minimal upkeep.

N/A | 9 kW | £1,852 | £76,111 |
N/A | 17 kW | £7,032 | £392,728 |
Savings are estimates and may vary depending on energy usage, system performance, and tariff rates. Battery storage enhances energy independence and increases long-term savings potential.
Pairing Solar Panels with Battery Storage
Integrating battery storage with your solar PV system is one of the most effective ways to maximise the value and efficiency of your home’s renewable energy setup. During the day, your solar panels generate electricity from sunlight—any surplus energy that isn’t used immediately is stored in a solar battery for use during the evening, at night, or on overcast days.
This stored energy ensures a more consistent and independent power supply, reducing reliance on the grid and protecting you from rising energy costs. Instead of exporting excess energy back to the grid for minimal return, battery storage allows you to use more of what you generate, increasing your self-consumption and long-term savings.
Combining solar panels with battery storage not only improves energy efficiency but also leads to significant reductions in electricity bills, making it a smart and sustainable choice for homeowners.
Note: Estimated 30-year savings may vary due to changes in electricity pricing and inflation rates since the time of original calculations.
Solar System Monitoring
As part of your installation, you’ll receive access to an intuitive online monitoring platform that delivers real-time data, performance metrics, and detailed reports—giving you full visibility and control over your solar PV system.
This platform keeps you connected to your system at all times, helping you track energy production, identify potential performance issues, and build smarter energy habits. It also supports long-term optimisation and encourages further energy-saving upgrades.
With solar monitoring, you can maximise your system’s efficiency, ensure it’s performing at its best, and take charge of your energy usage—every single day.

Peter Scott
The benefits of working with a local business far exceed big corporates. The team from Stag were easy to talk to throughout the process, from booking a visit too installation & after.
Josh came over to survey & provided a plan for the installation without any hard sell pressure.
Martyn Sullivan
I had consulted a number of companies before I was recommended Stag Solar and commenced discussions with Richard at Stag first in 2024. Our ask was perhaps more complex than most with a need for a large number of panels to be installed on an out building but with the need to also be able to feed our house which was on a separate supply.
Alistair Hankins
Stag Solar recently installed solar for me. Josh was excellent with initial contact. Ensuring I understood the quotes and the benefits and pitfalls of each option. Richard and Josh visited the site to explain the install process and go over the finer details. Again, excellent, providing further useful snippets and observations.
